Knee pain
In the beginning weeks of February 2003, while I was trying to climb a piece of rock in Darband, I felt some pain in my right knee, which gave me some trouble during the coming weeks. The pain was specially bad while I was in US for the events that followed that climb. It happened on the morning of February 7th 2003, as I went for a hike after I had taken Amitis and Megan to the airport.
But I never paid enough attention to this pain and I was doing fine until the pain came back during a hike to Tochal, which I had to interrupt just because of this pain. I think this was a followup on the initial pain, but intensified through my attempts to climb in Germany in June/July, Cologne. Since then I have not been hiking or climbing anymore, waiting for my knee to get better. And it seems that the time has come. During the last two weeks I have been hiking a little without having any pain.
Nevertheless I have a doctor’s appointment for coming Saturday and will go for a little hike tomorrow morning, hoping that all is well. I missed Damavand this summer, but I am hoping to make a winter climb within the next few months. That shoulb be more fun anyhow. So this is all about me trying to prepare for Damavand.
